Hello, and welcome to today's episode of the radiant soul podcast. And this is a soul shots episode, which means it's like guaranteed be five minutes long or less and just be what your soul needs to pick you up in this moment.
And I totally stole this from my mentor in a session with him yesterday because it was just too good not to share. So I'm sharing it because for me it was like a real epiphany and for other people in the call, too, it was for them. And it wasn't even my question, it was someone else's.
I want to talk about when you have a values conflict.
So what's a values conflict? A values conflict is when you want something and you desire something, but you think, if you're really honest with yourself, It's going to affect something else in your life. It's going to affect something in a negative way that you really value or want to keep in your life.
And this can look like many different things, right? This can look like, you know, thinking you want money and success, but then actually thinking that deep down, subconsciously, that money and success will mean that your relationship will fail or you'll lose love, or you'll lose friendships or you'll lose, um, something, you know, something that you value in your life.
And this causes a massive conflict in how and why and what we want to bring into our lives and create. And so when we think that we want something and we're just struggling for it to show up and we don't seem to be able to bring it into our lives and there quite often can be a values conflict going on.
And there's two ways to sort of get around this. One of them is to just be really honest and bring awareness to it. So you can actually ask yourself, you know, if I actually have this thing that I think I want, if I actually have the success, the wealth, or write the book or do whatever it is that I want, if I actually do that, and I have that success, what do I fear I'm going to lose? What do I think is going to be the sacrifice? What is the price I think I'm going to have to pay for doing that. What do I fear if that comes to fruition?
And then write that out and then you very clearly start seeing what it is that's what you fear. And for me, you know, I was really fearing, like if I have wealth and success in my business, then it will cost my relationship. It will cost my home life. It will cost my relationship with my son. Like I will not be able to give as much energy to both, and so one thing will have to be sacrificed.
And the best way to solve this is to do an affirmation. Is to work with an affirmation. Not only bringing awareness to it, but then every time you notice, Really affirming to yourself and giving yourself permission that you can have both. You can have this and you can have that.
You can have love and a relationship and a happy home life, and you can have the success, the wealth, the creativity, the inspiration, whatever.
So then the way you can do it is you can affirm with something like, for example,
The more wealth and success that comes into my life. The better mother, the better partner I am, and the better my relationships are all round.
And then you do the reverse. So, the more I show up as a good partner, as a good parent, the more I show up in that area of my life, the more I show up in this area, the more wealth and success I have.
So what you do is you have this affirmation and you reverse it. So both are true. So you can have this and that, and you can have that and this and this helps that, and that that helps this, right?
Do you see how one feeds the other and, and you just affirm, you just decide and you get to be the decider of that. So be honest with yourself. Be gentle with yourself and lets, you know, just dig deep. Do you have a values conflict? And then give yourself permission to have both.
